'The Welsh Contemporaries', Fountain Fine Art, Llandeilo

Article text
A trio from my collection of 'Valli, the Temple Elephant' will be on display at Fountain Fine Art gallery, Llandeilo with other artists who also exhibited in Vienna as part of the 'Taith' exhibition.

Established in 1973, by Geru Sri Subramanium, Skanda Vale monastery near Llanpumsaint in West Wales lies in a secluded valley of 300 acres of woodland and pasture.

The Brothers and Sisters have taken the Franciscan monastic vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and dedicate their lives to loving and serving God.

But they also care for their temple elephant Valli. A gift from an elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka, India and flown to England as a baby Valli is now 32 years old.
This set of images document her personal care with Brother Steffan.
